Default Heatcore watervalv

Hi!
Is it possible to use a Mercury/Edsel 57 heatcore watervalv to replace my leaking one on my Fairlane 500 312 tunderbird?

Is yours mounted to the firewall or on the intake manifold?

57/58 Ford's heater valve mounts on the heater core if I remember correctly,so I would guess 58 Edsel's Pacer or Ranger would be the same.58 Edsel's Corsair or Citation was built on the Mercury chassis,so I don't know about them as well the Mercury.IHTH

It´s mounted to the intake manifold and looks like a Mercury/Edsel 57 Valve but there are no numbers on it.
I think I will try this valve, otherwise I will order a new Ford Valve.

I find that one too expensive. There is one I have used on my cars mounts to the water hose near the firewall (cut the hose and mount in line) and controls with the same heater controll. most all auto part stores have a book on those heater controll valves. much cheaper and work great if you are not concerned with being original...
if yoy need a picture I can do that.

The firewall/heater is on the left side of the picture. This is a universal controll valve. Cut the heater hose and mount it inline.
Sorry for the out of focus, but I am in a wheelchair with a 98 degree day hanging over the fender doing my best. hope this helps. Should be able to find this part at any auto part store... under $15.00. mine is hard to see, it is hiden under the return line. If I remember the snake controll" cable might be a longer one from my pile of "stuff I hate to throw away". Gerry

Gerry, My heater valve in my 54 Sunliner is leaking and I searched the forum for ideas because new ones are over $150. I like your solution. Did you run the heater hose through the firewall where the original valve oval hole was?

Somewhere in this NOS and NORS stuff I have about 3 or 4 of these valves NORS. I did not know they brought that much money. Guesse they will be seeing e-bay in a month or so. Rod

No I didn't use the oval hole, I ran the EFI harness through that hole. I don't think it would take much to route it through that hole though...
