Brake/Clutch pedal question
When installing the pedals back onto as new shaft on the bell housing, I have found that the clutch pedal when adjusted sits about 1& 1/2" forward of the brake pedal. This is on a early 29 closed cab pick up. It looks odd to me, and we can not see any way to make the pedals line up side by side.
Anyone have a suggestion?? Is there a problem?? Thanks!!

Re: Brake/Clutch pedal question
Does not the clutch pedal have an adjustment arm?

Re: Brake/Clutch pedal question
Bob,
This can be caused by part A-7507, Pedal shaft collar, being worn out or installed 180 degrees out of alignment. I like to mark the present position before removing the collar IF the pedals line up. If not then the collar is worn and usually needs to be replaced. http://parts.modelastore.com/show_Product.asp?ID=3714 Sometimes the pedal stops need some welding and filing to fix the problem. Re: Brake/Clutch pedal question
Bob:
The pedals are usually found not to be even with each other due to wear in several areas. The first is certainly the collar mounted on the end of the pedal shaft. However, there can also be wear on the stop on the bell housing for the brake pedal. Wear can also be found on the stops on both pedals. The problem can be corrected by installing a new pedal shaft collar and welding up the wear on the bell housing brake stop and both pedal stops. However, this is not always practical. I have been able to even up the pedals by addressing only the pedal shaft collar. What you have to do is obtain a new collar and file down the stops on the collar until you are able to bring the clutch pedal to be even with the brake pedal. You have to file two stops on the collar so that either way you install the collar the pedals will be even. If you just file one stop on the collar identify it with a punch mark so that it will identify how to install it. Tom Endy |

Re: Brake/Clutch pedal question
as Tom said it can be corrected by the collar, however if you get a new collar you have to add metal to them by welding them up and then filing them down. it would be nice if someone reproduced a new collar that was already off set, or you can add on the petal stops and file them down. it is easier to deal with the collar. I have done this many times for club members.

Re: Brake/Clutch pedal question
Tom,
Yes, the clutch does come fully back and hit the collar stops. I had this happen on a 31 4 dr I owned, and I had to redrill the collar hole to get the pedals to line up.
