Default Any one near Springfield, Massachusetts?

I can't get this truck started. It was running well but I thought the timing was a bit retarded...I started to mess with the timing and now I can't get it to fire. I've had my Les Andrews book out...points set to .020....tdc with no backlash...test light comes on second notch down on sparkle lever. Anyone near by?

Do you have fire at the points? What else did you do? If it ran before you retimed it something else is wrong.

Remember - for a vehicle to run it needs fuel, air, and spark at the right time and with the correct mixture.

start with

Does it have fuel at the carburetor?
Slightly loosen the gas line and see if gas flows out

Does the spark plug spark?
Remove a spark plug, leave it connected, lay it on the block, and see if there is a spark across the gap when you try to start the car. Or you could use a screwdriver from the spark plug to the block with a little gap and attempt to see the spark

after that begin looking at the timing etc.
