Default Don't Use This Product

Armorall Extreme Tire Shine GEL, put this on blackwalls a couple of years ago. Slowly began to notice the tires appeared to be checked and turned a mustard brown color. It was this product oxidizing on the surface of the tires. Had to scrub like a banshee to get the stuff off and now the tires look nice again.......

I've noticed this with any Armorall on tires. My neighbor put some on my tires once while the car was parked out front. He thought he was helping. A year or so later I noticed the rubber turning brown. Scrubbed the tires and it went away.

Armorall is evil stuff. DO NOT put it on ANYTHING that you plan on keeping.

I noticed my Firestone whitewalls on my huckster purchased a coupe of years ago, seems to have age cracks starting. Don't know if it is the whitewall cleaner or not.

I've got a dim memory of reading an article back in the 1980s that pretty much said "don't use Armorall on your tires - it'll prematurely age them"; haven't touched the stuff since...

I have heard that it draws all the oils out of the rubber and dries them out. ken ct.

Use 303 protectant. Don't ever use Armorall on tires or Model A tops.

Just don't ever use Armor-All, period.

Can't think of anything it's good for.

Use Black Shoe Polish on your tires. it also hides the cracks...

on other cars i use meguiers tire shine (clear stuff, looks like a windex bottle) i just spray it on and let it "drip dry" meaning i let it absorb as much as it will and they stay dark black for weeks even while driving thru rain. havent had any probelms and ive been using it for years. even expanded the rubber some on our boat tires and cant see the small cracks anymore.

For years I use a leather balm on beewax base for make the tire shine. Never had a problem, lasts longer than all this chemistry stuff. And it's still only environmental friendly and cheaper.
Is also available in black for shoes. I can only recommend.

I have mentioned this long ago. First the disclaimer. I'm not a chemist. I did ask an Armorall rep many years ago about why his product failed. His response..........You cannot continue to reapply the product over and over again. The secret.........use the Armorall cleaner to remove the old application and THEN apply fresh Armorall. You decide if he was just trying to sell more snake oil.

I'm picking up this old thread because I took my wheels off the car and scrubbed the
H-E-L-L out of them removing the mustard brown residue from that Armorall crap or so I thought. Well guess what, a year later the brown mustard came back. How do I get this stuff off once and for all???

My Father used Armorall on his tires (not a model A) and after a while the tires had a light brown color to them... He stopped using it... I took his advice and never use it.. I just take a good stiff brush and scrub the tires with dawn dish soap... they look like just clean plain non-pimped tires

I was at a Harley Davidson factory tour a few years back and talked with the Dunlop Tire rep. He stated very clearly " Never use Armorall on tires. It will prematurely age and weather check the tires". Nuff said.

I've always used thinner or reducer on tires.
I learned the hard way about Armorall on interiors. I don't how that company stays in business.
