Default Speedometer lube

Can anyone tell me what kind of lube and where to lube in the speedometer. The gears look rather dry and the odometer stopped at 10,000 like it didn't want to turn that fifth number. I have the number cylinder out but can't seem to get it apart any further. Any help would be appreciated.

wmws-I used the above article to completely rebuild my speedometer several years ago. I hope you find it helpful.

I've always used Dist Cam grease.

The procedure that was identified in post #2 is most excellent. I would add that it is very necessary to remove the primary worm gear before trying to press out the main shaft. There is a rectangular washer under the magnet wheel with a curved edge that must be up away from the odometer wheels. In a hasty move to fix the position of that washer, I failed to remove the primary worm gear and ruined it in the process. I now need to find a replacement worm gear. Be careful.
