Default Ford FMX Transmission

Has anyone ever changed the filter and pan gasket on a FMX trans? I want to change out mine on my 69 Torino, and just wondered if there was anything weird to watch out for. I don't want to remove the filter and have some springs or detent balls go flying around the garage floor. Would anyone recomend adding an additive to the new trans. fluid? Can the convertor be drained as well? Thanks in advance.

No tricks with the FMX. New fluid should do it. Rotate the flex plate, there should be a plug in the converter next to one of the bolts that connect the converter up to the flex plate.

I wouldn't use an additive with the new fluid, just make sure you use Ford type F (or FA) though.
