Re: Barn Find
George,
You should definitely keep grandpas car as long as you feel up to restoring it. Just remember that with a car which seems to preserve a lot of its originality, there's a great responsibility resting on you to document the car before you tear it apart. Please get a good digital camera and take hundreds of pictures both overview and closeup of any detail. No detail is to small. What type of screw is used in each place? Square head or hex head nuts? What seems to be the original finish of every little part ? Are any of the original fabrics still there? Get close up shots of weave pattern and colors of any seemingly original fabric Then, please share your photos. For example, offer them to Bob Johnson to put on his Modelahouse site. There are not many untouched cars out there anymore, hence we have to reap the information we can from those that are left. Eystein |

Re: Barn Find
My barn finds. I have a AR Roadster that Bob Johnson bought new in March 22 1928 He was the Ford mechanic at the local dealer then . I paid $ 225 for it in 1955 .The other a 1930 sw Fordor 29000 miles on it ,paid $ 50 as second owner from the same garage . These cars have been inside for years and still have original tires on them .I have driven the 28 about 40 miles every year and it runs great .It has #5 license plate on it for the Province of Alberta .They both have single plate glass wind shields and the Roadster has it's original honey comb radiator which Ford said he didn't do .It's like owning a famous picture ,you don't do anything with it but it is the pleasure of looking at it is what the owner likes . Your barn find I would call a Cabriolet 68-B that is one of the more valuable cars a real jewel Keep it .
