Left rear turn signal is very weak??
Signal STAT 900 wired to specifications. Using LED tail lights (night driving).
Cowl lamps (incandescent) work well. Right rear LED works well on BRAKE and TURN. Left Rear works well on BRAKE, but TURN is very weak. When the headlamps or driving lamps (Cat Eyes off the separate COWL wire) are on, the Left TURN signal is practically impossible to see the flashing. I have the wire splice near the Brake Switch. Is it the LED's lack of respect for Dr. OHM's law that causes this? Is there a fix. I'm using the Mark One Left Arm out of the window to signal a Left turn currently. Re: Left rear turn signal is very weak??
Sounds like you have a bad ground in the laeft tail light. Remove lens add a jumper wire to the socket and a good ground and see what happens.

Re: Left rear turn signal is very weak??
Where everyone says bad ground.. I will also add in bad wire to ground... Had a truck once that the wire got cut someway inside of the outer coating and after following evryone's "sounds like a ground problem" finally found it was a ground WIRE problem... good luck wiring problems are always more work than they appear.

Try switching the left and right LED units and see if the problem stays on the left side or moves with the LED.

Re: Left rear turn signal is very weak??
When I put directionals on the Coupe I ran a separate ground wire from a hold drilled into the separator that is inside the tea cup and thence to a good frame ground.
I will cover this all on the article I am writing for the Jan/Feb issue of the Restorer about installing directionals includind LED tail lights on the A. Dennis L Oberer Green Bay WI |
