Default Ford 59 Carb

The carb on my 39 Ford flatty is a Ford 59..possibly a 59A.

Any comments on the reliability and dependability of this carb? Apparently it was used on 47 to 48 cars and 46 to 47 trucks.

Was it made by Holley? If I look up a carb kit for this carb, it seems as if a Holley also uses the same kit?

Any comments on this carb would be appreciated, positive or negative..

It is a Holley 94 variant. The Model 59 is of the same quality as other 94s of the era. A couple of things: make sure it is thoroughly cleaned, if rebuilding; make sure the throttle shaft bore/ shaft are not worn to create a vacuum leak; use quality rebuild parts, Daytona Carb offers a good kit; make sure mounting surfaces are flat. Okay, that was a few things.

I also have a Ford Model 59 carburetor and a rebuild is on the near future list. I looked at the Daytona Carb website and they only have Holley or Stromberg kits for sale. Does the Holley rebuild kit work or do I have to get a Ford specific rebuild kit?

Chandler-Groves, Ford, and Holley all were manufacturers of the 94 carburetors. The model numbers on the driver’s side differed from year to year, but the internals are the same. 91-99; 21A; 59; 8BA, all use the same rebuild kits.
