Cam Gear Alignment?
I am reassembling a 8BA and it appears that the (Fiber) cam gear can be aligned on the cam 2 different places (180 degrees apart). I would think there would be some markings or something similar rather than figuring out when both #1 valves are closed and the crank at TDC. I’m not saying I couldn’t do that but if there is a better way I would like to know it.

Re: Cam Gear Alignment?
The cam gear can only bolt on the cam in a single index/location - due to how the bolt holes are configured. It should have a marking on the outside edge to denote the indexing to the crankshaft gear.
I hope you have a good quality gear - I tend to only run aluminum ones (not worth risking the disintegration of a fiber one in my mind). |
