Ignition steering lock disassemble
35-36 ignition steering lock assembly, any easy way to remove the small pin which activates the ignition switch from the slide lock. It has to come out to completely disassemble. Lock is already out. Got Don's write up, he just says remove the pin, problem is the pin doesn't want to cooperate. Thanks Zeke

Re: Ignition steering lock disassemble
Here is a post for later models. Don't know if it covers your lock. Take a look.

Re: Ignition steering lock disassemble
Use a small pair of vise-grip pliers on the pin and a screwdriver to lever around the tips of the jaws of the pliers and the pin should pull right out.

Re: Ignition steering lock disassemble
Zeke, here is a post that has instructions with sketches on how to take a '35-'36 column drop apart. Don Rogers originally posted this information.

Re: Ignition steering lock disassemble
DavidG has it exactly right. To replace it, just tap it back in place, the "bite" marks from the vice grips should not matter.

Re: Ignition steering lock disassemble
Did you get that pin out? Just did mine with a vise grips and a tug and it came right out. It is just pressed in.

Re: Ignition steering lock disassemble
Just revised my instructions to include use of vice grips. Sorry for the omission.

Re: Ignition steering lock disassemble
You're giving me hope. My Saturday project is to free up mine. Loading it with the steering locked up sucked.
