Default 1931 Roadster seats

I am working on a 1931 Roadster with Brookville repro body. The new body came with some wood framing behind the seat area in the form of two horizontal pieces bolted and screwed to the body and three vertical slats. Is this wood framework integrated into the front seat cushion, or does the seat cushion just clip/bolt to it? Do the roadster seat cushions have wood integrated into them, or are they just springs covered in material?

I'm trying to decide if I want to buy the seat cushions complete from Lebaron Bonney or just buy the springs, (wood?), and material separately and do the work myself.

Unfortunately, I didn't have a complete original car to start with. Fortunately, a chassis that used to belong to a coupe (that got rodded), will again be a "real" Model A.

Thanks

I visited Marco's A Barnyard and answered my questions.

Below are a couple of pics that may help. The wooden frame behind the seat is screwed in place to the body and is not part of the seat. The springs clip to the frame. The seats originally had no wood in them. The were just covered springs.

Les,

Thank you very much!

The wood framework, that you have pictured, came with the Brookville body. Now I know I don't need to find or make any additional wood.

Les,

These are pics of an original "standard" but the deluxe is done the same.

If you are going with LB you may be able to order the backrest covered on a new spring but with the top loose so the spring can be mounted on the wood you have and you can finish it from there.

Thank you, Marco. Your pictures are very helpful. Thanks for all you do for the hobby. Great website-- I've been consulting with it for years.
