Default 30 coupe over heating issue

Got a new water pump and aluminum fan, filled with water but as soon as I start putting miles on the car, it starts gurgling and boiling over.

It got so hot that I think it even got into the cylinders! My regular oil leak out the back of the oil pan had drips of water as well today.

Poor ol' motor, she puts up a good fight!

First, rod out your radiator. If that doesn't do it, the water jackets in the block and head are probably full of rust and crud. A combination treatment of vinegar and evaporust (not at the same time) might take care of that.

All this assumes that your timing is right.

That's where I'd start, anyway.

My 28 runs hot, but does not boil over. I was worried and did vinegar, Evaporust and Simple green. No help. I used an infrared gun to determine the temp of the top and bottom of the radiator. Very small variation in temp. I removed the radiator and took it to a reputable shop. My radiator is shot, unfortunately.

should be a 30* temp diff from top to bottom of rad.

Per Bratton's catalogue it you block off the bottom fitting with a ball, then fill to top with water, and then yank the ball out, the rad. should drain completely in 4 secs or less.

But first check the timing as mentioned. Prolly retarded; and a retarded motor will run hotter than hell

To save a lot of time & trouble and maybe $$, Just replace the Radiator, new Hoses, and by the sounds of it, maybe, a new head gasket..

I think it did before I replaced the pump. I just started driving it a lot so i'm noticing it more.

If it has water in the oil, you've got serious problems. It could be a blown headgasket or a cracked block or head. Don't run the engine with water in the oil pan or the babbit will be damaged. If the oil checks high on the dip stick this usually indicates water in the oil.

Yes check your oil to see if you have water in it.
Now is your car actually over heating? The only way to know for sure is to measure the temperature of the water. Get a cheap meat thermometer and check it. A lot of times the water level is just too high in the radiator and it pukes it out when it gets warm. Looks a lot like it is over heating.

I have infrared temp gun, I'll check tomorrow.
