So . . . are they now giving a free Model A Ford brake adjustment to all the geezers?

Which geek came up with that Senior Citizen day thing? What next?

Back when that Senior Citizen discount bunk started back in 1970s, it used to annoy me. There were sections in supermarkets popping up then with lower priced food dedicated to "SENIOR CITIZENS". What pandering clowns contrived that feel good scam? Actually thought it to be the old stale garbage that needed to be otherwise thrown into the dumpster the next day. Figured then that if any group deserved an overall discount on things it should be younger people say under age 25 or so and not some horde of scavenging self entitled geezers.

The only old guy "discount" that I accept is riding the New Jersey Transit EXPRESS bus over into Manhattan. It stops right out in front of our Fort Lee, NJ apartment building. Being 70 years old now . . . the cost for me is ONE-DOLLAR ($1.00) to roll into New York City for some marvelous Pizza at John's just outside of Times Square.

Life is Good even without some sort of discount!

But you do accept Social Security and reduced bus FARES right? Seniors are given discounts to recognize the contributions they have made to your great country. Everything you enjoy today you owe to the efforts of seniors. Remember many of them risked and some gave their lives so that America could become one of the greatest countries in the world. Take the discounts, you earned them , Wayne

I DETEST that title! The world treats us as though we're slow, stupid & demented & prime suckers to sell some useless crap to!! Restaurants give us the "SENIOR" price & give us smaller portions of Old Folks Mashed Potatoes, or Cheep Spaghetti, with sauce that comes in 5 gallon cans, and made from REJECT FRUIT!
"Whoever" started this SENIOR CITIZENS DAY thing, is probably making MONEY with it!

For the old and grumpy BAA HUMBUGS!!!!Not all of us have to wear Depends or use false teeth.....yet!!!!

Background

Some people celebrate Senior Citizens Day on August 14 as it was the day past US president Franklin Roosevelt signed the Social Security Act in 1935. However, in 1988 Ronald Reagan, who was the US president at the time, declared August 21 to be National Senior Citizens Day.
This observance was established in honor of senior citizens in the US who made positive contributions in their communities. The day was also created to bring awareness of social, health, and economic issues that affect senior citizens.

Some people can not accept the description of being called a senior. It us not the time to be grumpy and nasty it is the time to enjoy the autumn season of your life. If you don't like senior. Deals refuse to accept or order them. Pay full price for food, health and recreational memberships, haircuts, admissions, etcetera. But don't live up to your reputation as being nasty and ornery as demonstrated in this post. Don't be cynical because some people are trying to recognize your past and present importance in your family, your community and your country. Wayne

When you become a "senior" your junk mail is always trying to sell you OLD FOLKS stuff.
Pat's been gone for 4 years & they're still tryin' to sell her Funeral Plans, Life Insurance & Invitations for a FREE Spaghetti dinner/seminar! BAH HUMBUG!

On a slightly different vein than this string, if you have never taken your A to a special care facility you really should do it. So many people come to look at the cars (most won't let them take a ride now-a-days without specific family authorization) and many get in to sit in them. It makes my day just to spend an hour or so doing this. Try it if you haven't, and you attitude will improve.

I didn't mind becoming a Senior Citizen, but now three of my five children are Senior Citizens. How can we stop this?

Rich,
I went to one & they wanted me to SELL my house & move in with them, BUT, they didn't allow DOGS--so much for THAT!
