Goodyear copy tires
Yesterday I came over a tire which look like a Goodyear diamond tread, but was not.
Tire is with out any markings than size and a number. Does any of you know similar tires? It is priced 1/3 of the Goodyeramarked tire. I think it is a Chinise copy, and dare not to by What are your opinion? |

Re: Goodyear copy tires
I would first of all ask the tire merchant or seller who makes the tire and ask if he has any further particulars. I would also intensely scan the tire visually for other markings. During the lard sixties I worked in a tire laboratory and we texted every tire on the market. At that time one of the most popular companies manufactured a tire for competition reasons that was as good ad their top line but it lacked the corporate markings. It was a major marketing flop because people were apprehensive concerning a perceived lack of quality. The tire disappeared from the market very quickly. Wayne

Re: Goodyear copy tires
Antique tires have a false high price, due to the major manufactor, practically, having a monopoly on the business of manufactoring the tires.

The ribs on the side make me think it is a retread.

Re: Goodyear copy tires
Post the DOT CODE imprinted on the tire's sidewall which indicates completion date and manufacturer.
I will be pleased to research the above. |

Re: Goodyear copy tires
Bruce,it probably doesn't have a DOT code. He's in Denmark, and if the tires are not sold in the U.S,they don't need the DOT stamping.

Re: Goodyear copy tires
Mike i do not think the tires are retread - tirecase looks brand new
Bruce, i do not think that many Model A tires - also bought directly from USA suppliers such as Snyders ect have DOT marks (exampele Firestone, Lucas and Goodyear us made) Tires in Denmark for ordanary (modern) cars has DOT markings and must have them. Only marking besides size is on photo in starting post |
