Default 1929 roadster rumble cushion fasteners

I have a question of how to fasten the roadster rumble seat back rest cushion. Mine has two tabs at the top that slide into openings at the top of the rumble lid. They fit nicely. BUT at the bottom of the cushion on either side there a two metal tabs with slotted holes and matching the tabs on the bottom of the lid are two threaded holes. Clearly there should be small bolts/machine screws used here. Again, BUT, the backrest cushion covers these areas so you can't get at them, and there seems to be no way to use a fastening to hold the backrest.

Please, someone a lot more familiar than I am about this, ( maybe smarter too ), make a suggestion. Bill ( I already thought of not fastening the bottom at all )

The 2 lower tabs should be protruding outside of the cushion perimeter. Spin them 180 degrees if they are not.

My 29 Sport Coupe has it's original back cushion and it fits close on the bottom but I can still get my fingers in there to start the threads. I'm not sure if they used hex head screw fasteners originally but that's what I use with washers wide enough to still cover the slots. I've seen folks climb in there so they can see everything while installing the fasteners but I'm used to fitting stuff blind.

I've never looked at the Snyder's reproduction springs to see how well they fit and it's common to find home brewed spring assemblies for both back and bottom cushions. I guess folks would be harder on the bottoms when either people or heavy objects are put back there. Stepping on those springs will damage them over time.
