Default Turn Signals

I have the turn signals that go in between my bumper bars. I have an alternator and was wondering if they make an led bulb to fit into these lights. I want them to be brighter. Thanks....

Just about every different type of automobile bulb socket style has been made in LED format.

This what I used, fit between the bumpers, come in a number of colors, much cheaper. Unbelievably bright

I changed out the incandescent turn signal bulbs for LEDs and they are MUCH brighter. Be aware the normal flasher unit (usually looks like a little aluminum can about the size of a stack of quarters) will probably not work correctly with the LEDs until you add a resistor to the left and right circuits. The LEDs draw very little amperage (in fact my ammeter barely moves when the LED headlights are switched on) and the normal flasher needs a larger current draw to work. The typical malfunction is that the turn signals flash way too fast.
I’m still experimenting with mine because the flashing is erratic - pauses, then fast, then slow. I tried some NOS flasher units but then the turn signals don’t illuminate at all. I read that electronic flashers should work perfectly, but only when the engine is off because the radio frequency (RF) interference from the ignition system interferes.
Next step for me is to check all the wiring again (anybody wanna bet it’s a lousy ground?) and if I can’t find the problem I may try an electronic flasher and stick it in a little metal box (Faraday cage).
At a show I met a Model T guy who uses a huge white glove that looks like it belongs to Mickey Mouse or Woody Woodpecker mounted on a broomstick as his turn signal. Has merit but not great at night. Maybe it can be rigged to light up? Say, with some LEDs…

If you change to LED from incandescent bulbs, you'll need either a load resistor or an electronic flasher can. I run the latter with my LED indicators, a Narva 68249.

David, Check the pinout on the new flasher with the old one. They can be different and that would require some re wiring. The new flasher can be ruined if not hooked up correctly.

The directional lamps from Snyders say they have a some kind of resistor in it and you can use a standard flasher. Is this true???
