Default 1964 1/2 Mustang Convertible. D-Code and Factory A/C

City: Jefferson
State: WI
Price: 27,000.00

This 1964 1/2 Mustang Convertible is well preserved original car. It is a desirable model with the D-Code engine and factory air conditioning.

The VIN is 5R08D101572 and the car was built in San Jose, CA. The trim tag reads as follows:
Body 76A, Color M (Wimbleton), Trim 86 (Black crinkle vinyl), Date 22G (July 22, 1964), DSO 75 (Phoenix) Axle 1 (3.00), Trans 6 (C4)

This car was sold new in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The car retains the original Owners Manual and Warranty Card indicating it was sold on 8/15/64. It is believed to have spent most the first part of its life in the Southwest. In 1981, it was sold to a man from Illinois. He kept it for 34 years until the last owner, a resident of Kansas, purchased it. The mileage shown is about 90,000 which is believed to be original.

It is hard to tell if the Wimbleton White paint is original, but it looks like it might be. If it was repainted, it was done prior to 1981. In 1985, the top and carpets were replaced. The upholstery is original, clean and well preserved. There are no rust issues on this car nor have there ever been. The body is excellent. The paint has an expected amount of chips and scratches but has an overall, very pleasing look to it. The chrome and glass are also very nice and original. The trunk is very clean and contains the spare tire and the original jack. The original top boot is present, but has a hole worn. The new replacement and correct pads are present. An aftermarket radio has been installed, although the original radio is also included.

The D-Code engine performs exceptionally well. It has recently been tuned. The carburetor was rebuilt and the car still retains its original Autolite carburetor and air cleaner. The engine makes a lot of power and the car is extremely peppy. Other than the horn not blowing, all features seem to function properly including the lights and gauges. The freon needs to be replenished for the A/C. The original keys unlock the doors and trunk. This great original example of a desirable and well-optioned, early Mustang convertible.

The price is 27,000.00 and the vehicle is located in Jefferson, WI. Please call 734-730-4274 or email: [email protected] for more information or to schedule a viewing. Thank you.
