'31 Chassis to '32
Has anyone out there modified an aftermarket Model A, IFS chassis, into a '32 style chassis for a highboy?
My though had been to remove the front suspension, replace or modify the front crossmember to accommodate a conventional buggy spring or modify for a semi-eliptical sprung front axel, take a set of aftermarket '32 rails, pinch them to the A's contours, attach the front of the new rails to the "A" rails and build "outriggers" or attachments from the "A" rails to the new '32 rails to properly align the rails with the contours of the Model A. And you ask, "why not just use a set of aftermarket '32 rails? Because I have a nice, legally registered chassis which has served me for 30,000 miles. The running gear, brakes, fuel system, electrical, etc are already in place ... and I am too old and tired to start from scratch! Has anyone out there done something like this? I am open to other idea, too. Thanks. Joe Joe Altieri Lincoln, Ca. |

May I suggest that you also post this on the HAMB forum (a sister to this one). HAMB is full of just the people you need to ask.
