Spark plugs
I am not sure when the spark plugs were last changed. They were Champion C-16C. I bought a set of Motocraft SP-488 TT10 from Bert's. The ones I took out are pictured for your review. Are the tips supposed to be to the side of the electrode? I am still waiting on my radiator before I fire it up. Bert's offers three different plugs. What does every one use?

Re: Spark plugs
There is thread here that shows the temperature range for several plugs. I had TT10's but were too cold from my standard compression head as well as my short trip city driving... I've tried these:

Re: Spark plugs
Looks to me like the old plugs are plain worn out. If you are doing a lot of around town driving, get a hotter plug (If you have an original head) and use a colder one if you are touring a lot or have a high compression head.

Re: Spark plugs
Some ground electrodes are made on the side of the center electrode, and some plugs (most plugs) are made with the ground electrode over the end. The color looks fine on the removed plugs, and if the gap is within specs, they should be good to use.

Re: Spark plugs
Those sparklers seem to look fine. As long there are no cracks and the center electrode and insulator looks good then you can adjust the gap and run them. Side gap plugs are common.

Re: Spark plugs
Redbird,
I once ran an OLD Datsun 510, with the ground electrodes cut OFF, it ran good. Bill W.
