Default Update '29 shell removal with pics

There was question as to wether I had a '28-early 29 shell, with the difference being the wiring hole size for the conduit to go through. It is the correct shell for the twolite-three wire harness according to the Standards (pictured crank hole relief). Also pictured is the bakelite plug that would not fit through the hole. If you pull the wire up a little, the wire slips out a hole in the terminal and the plug can be reomoved. The plug is marked "Y", "R", "G" for the correct routing of the wires. Don't know if this is origional or a J.C. Whitney special. I suspect the latter. Thanks for all the constructive advice in this matter. I knew it had to be something easy.

Great Lakes Greg .......................
I have that same shield and flag holder, that I found many years ago. It was in the box with five 48 star flags.

The radiator shell with the crank hole stamping on yours is 29 style. The 28 style does not have the two legs going down from the crank hole.If you have 3 little brass slotted screws in the black plastic plug holding the wires it is the earlier non two lite type/ 28.If the black plastic plug has slots it is 29 thru 31 twolite type.I hope I read your question correctly and this is the info you needed.Phil in Denver

The markings Y R and G appear on originals. I'm not sure if any reproductions were ever made with these markings; maybe someone else has the answer.
