Default 8BA Question

What's the norm for marking your valves after seating them in new sleeves?? Is 1 thru 4 on the passenger side by the distributor or the drivers side??

Ford cylinders are numbered front to back starting with the passenger front cylinder as one. The passenger rear cylinder is 4. The driver front cylinder is 5 and the driver rear cylinder is 8.

V8 or V6 engine blocks will have one side @ one inch ahead of the other due to the rod connections to the crank.

Not sure why you're asking . . . is it because a set of freshly machined ones have been marked and you don't know where they go . . . or?

The reason I ask is that some machine shops will mark the numbers in the order of the cylinders (front to back). So, it is important to know what the machine shop did.
