Default What year is this barn find?

Hi there, I'm new to posting but have always looked to Ford Barn for guidance and information.

I stumbled on this barn find and want to know what year and model it is and if it is as original as it appears to be. Land owner is reluctant to sell since it was her husband's work truck up until 59, judging by the black NJ commercial plates.

Any information from the pictures would be greatly appreciated. I'm thinking it might be worth pressuring her to sell before it gets forgotten or scrapped. Thank you.

Man that sucker is awesome, I would try to get it. Get her running, wash it and leave it alone. Very nice find.

that's a roadster, wouldn't that be a good find just being a roadster?

No light bar from fender to fender, the headlamps are fender mount only, the bed has no filler plate between the bed and runabout tub, and the distinct four small rivet heads on the firewall for holding the gas tank anti squeak webbing inside the cowl, .....all these features are distinct to a 1926, with the front stake pocket set back, this would be a later 1926 mfg after Jan of 1926.

A check of the engine number on the block over the water return inlet would give the exact date.

Thank you for the information. I'm going to try purchase this one from a slow death, wash it and put it back on the road where it belongs.

People should understand, these old cars are better if people can enjoy them and appreciate them. I think the old woman should be really happy to hear and see it run. When she's gone there will be no control over what happens to it.

It really does not matter but it looks like a late 26 - early 27 from the carb set-up & the area where the cowl meets the door. Buy it if you can & as others have said clean it up & use it!!

To find its exact age look on top of the frame in tha area circled & there may be a number stamped there, the odd one has the number on the left frame rail. The number should match the number on the block just above the water inlet. The engine may have been changed though. Post the number here & it can be dated easily.

Very nice barn find.
Also has a nice aftermarket carb.
Looks like a Stromburg?
Stan Howe in Mont. can restore that carb to better than new, they are supposed to be good running carbs.

You GOT to become friends with that lady. You GOT to let her know that you want to honor and respect that car. You GOT to let her know that you want to preserve that car.
Her kids might just want to junk it or sell it.
Good luck,
MIKE

Ive always prefered the "new and improved" 26-27 models. It already has the big stomper pedals, and if the trans cover (hogshead) has two bolts on the top that go into the back of the block youre at least period correct. If it has the cover but no holes in the block I consider it a hermaphrodite (!) ! The later blocks always seemed stronger altho an earlier one will run just fine. Just my opinion (JMO). ws

[email protected] and FL&WVMIKE : You're right! I have to go visit her and work on putting it back on the road. Having the widow see it up and running again is better than it's current existence. I'll keep you all posted.
