I know folks were kidding (I think) about chopping it, but 35-40 cars look right the way they are...and yes, I like Hotrods, choppe cars, etc, but 35-40 just carry the right profile, IMO, as mentioned before.

Also, wow, what a great find there!

PS, I really don't think Pete wants to see a SBC in it

I don't like automatics either.

It's funny how people just read and respond. I thought Pete's response was Hilarius. The only thing missing was an IDFS and 8" with parallel leafs. That's the "Bee's Knee's " combo right there !!

BTW, super nice coupe. Congrats !

All the change it suggestions were tongue in cheek. It's a nice survivor and deserves to be out on the road again after a long lay-up. It has all the qualities to age with dignity.

I'll confess, though. I'm one of those darned hot rodders, so if it were in my garage, it'd probably find itself sporting a Posie's reversed eye front spring and a set of Red's dual exhaust extensions and pipes with some glasspacks. ;-)
Very nice! I'm with you-stance and some enhanced flat motor sound.

Very nice find! What are your plans for this car?

I'd change to oil, gas, and do a few period motor up grades - then drive the wheels off of it!
Great find!

Why would anyone want to put an inferior engine in a great old Ford?

" As far as chopping, the aesthetics and proportionate style of the 39-40 coupes are so spot on that changing the slope or height of the roof has never improved one."

There is nothing you can do to a 39 or 40 Ford to make it look better. All you can do is make it look different, and hope it ain't "ugly different".

its got a 8BA and dual exhaust. it doesn't need anything else but driven and enjoyed,

just found another coupe that will see the light of day again . lots of old fords still sitting in sheds and barns . funny I don't have to go looking for projects anymore, just answer the phone.

kinda like the 37 sedan a couple years ago.

also got 4 trailer loads of model A parts to sort out, Hershey is a few months away so I got a lot of stuff to take care of
