1948 merc vin#

Looking for vin# on 1948 merc coupe, in Fl police come out and do vin# check he was here yesterday and we couldn't find. Looked on fire wall, frame rails[right and left], no engine or trans with car. Any help would be great. Thanks Walt

Should be on a plate on the engine side of the firewall but you are asking in the wrong place;
