Mustang master cylinder
I have a Model A ford that was converted to hydraulic brakes. The master cylinder is a 1967 to 1970 mustang. The master cylinder needs replacement. I can purchase a mustang master cylinder but the puch rod is to long. I would like to remove the push rod and replace it with my existing push rod. The new rod does not just pull out. The store parts man told me to clamp rod in vice to pull it out.I am reluctant to do this b ecause I dont want to pay for a cylinder that I just broke. Looking for advice Thanks

Re: Mustang master cylinder
The most common Mustang master for drums only is available at Autozone without the pushrod, here is the part number: Fenco M1485 there were three different master cylinders used in that time period because of the disc and power brake options, prior to purchase check the piston depth and compare it to the one you have.

Re: Mustang master cylinder
I have a similar conversion and was not able to remove the rod from the piston. Any ideas?
