Default Brattons

I went to Bratton's website to order a few things for my '30 Tudor. When I hit total it was $633.70. Then I remembered I needed a battery. But that is another story.

I can only imagine how much you would have bought if you were looking at a paper catalog.

For a battery, check your local farm store

Didn't know there was a Rural King just 30 miles away in Radford VA, the '29 coupe could use a new battery and I have had good luck with that manufacturer before, believe I'll check the place out. Looking at their store ad, they have a bunch of my type of things.

Walked into an O'Reilly auto parts store and asked for a battery for a 1931 Ford. No hesitation, the clerk walked into the back and promptly came out with the correct battery.

Did you factor in the shipping cost of the battery v.s buying one locally?

When I bought a six volt battery for my '31 Coupe three years ago, I paid about $90 at my local Kragen Auto Parts Store, which had just been bought out and name changed to O'Reillys. Again- standard six-volt battery in the Model A size - six batteries in stock at the time. Just walked in and picked it up. Easy as pie. Oh yes, the $90 was with an exchange of my old battery.

I would never buy a battery through the mail. The way any package is banged up, just imagine what happens to the plates in the cells. Plus the high cost of shipping, and what about warranty if you need it.

Farm King... was $41 last year when I bought one. I usually get around seven years out of them on average. Harvest King brand I think, don't pay much attention to the brand name they just always had good batteries at a good price, for old cars and tractors.

Chris, I just went to Tractor Supply last week in Moorpark and picked up a new 6 volt exide battery. They have a fairly new store there off of L.A. Ave now. Not a very long drive for you. Just a thought.

I went to my local auto parts store (Bumper to Bumper)last November and bought a 12 volt battery for 'le coupe. Got home ( bout 1/2 mile) and installed into coupe. Nothing. Check all connections . Nothing Using test light tested battery. DEAD. Took it immediately back to Bumper to Bumper and they tested it, declared it dead and exchanged it.

Last week the coupe would not start. Checked battery. Test light. Multimeter. No voltage. Nothing. Nada.

Pulled it out of coupe and returned it to Bumper. "sorry, we only exchange them once." Turkeys would not make the warranty good. BTW, it is/was a 24 month warranty.
and battery was only 5 months old. I was and still am pizzzzzed. Will never again buy battery from them and don't recommend others to buy either.

Might I suggest you do not join AMAZON PRIME. Anytime I have a whim for anything, I just click a couple of buttons on my phone and its at my door next day at the relatively cheapest price, particularly with no shipping charges with Prime.

The Optima Red Top batteries are Gel batteries.

I called. They don't carry the Optima Red top Gel batteries.
