Default stuck starter

have started trk 5 or 6 times over winter.80 degrees today thought i should take a short spin.pressed starter, nothing ok dead battery. on charger came back 1 hour,pressed starter,nothing.pulled off starter switch,looks ok.used jumper across 2 terminals. nothing, warm lug.disconnect batt&removed starter bolts,starter stuck.put in 3rd gear & rocked till starter fell loose.everything looks good.question is WHY&grease on starter gear or not. thanks tom

You just had. A stuck pinion. Go to YouTube and sea
Rch for stuck starter. Common problem.
No heavy oil on starter shaft. Very light and not much of it.

Wheel Bearing Grease, brushed on the flywheel teeth will eliminate MOST lock ups. EXCEPT when you DON'T fully retard the spark on start up! That'll cause it to kick like a MULE, BACKWARDS & lock it tighter than DICKS' HATBAND!! Dicks' hatband is "TIGHT" cuz he hides MAD MONEY in it---LOL
