1941 Ford Deluxe LS 5.3 Swap Information Needed
I'm a new member and have looked at this site because it appears to be friendly member oriented and the potential great source of information.
I just bought a 1941 Deluxe from the original owners grandson who is in his mid 70's now. It sat on the side of his house for 40 years. I've been wanting to build an old school rat rod for many years and this was a truly unbelievable find that happened to be on the same street as my house, hidden away all these years. The history on this Deluxe goes back to when it was purchased new. Three generations of the same family drove it all over the United States, running the original flat V8 and drive train until the Flatty over heated and was parked for 40 years until I bought it. I really want to use the LS 5.3 because of the potential horsepower per dollar value, as long as I do not have to cut up the firewall. Any help would be sincerely appreciated. My second choice would be a roller motor out of a Fox Body 5.0 or equivalent era drive train. Information related to this swap would also be sincerely appreciated. Thank you in advance for any helpful input and I'm looking forward to being a contributing member to a brotherhood of enthusiasts. |

You might check over at;
http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ This site is more geared to original cars and trucks with some era correct type speed equipment made for the 4 and 8 cylinder engines. I think the not wanting to cut up the firewall is great. Frankly I am not sure what a LS 5.3 engine is but I would venture a guess is modern. As it is this section is for questions to the editor about the site not car questions. If you do ask on the proper forum I would not use terms like "RAT ROD" but if you do I am sure the guys will try and steer you into building a proper built flat head.

I prefer keeping a Ford a Ford, none of the (##%%$$) stuff
how about a 351 Windsor with AOD... Or really a period Flathead... of course if you need an auto trans, there are adapter kits to mount a AOD to the Flathead.. |
