Default Brake Problems.

This past Saturday, I went for my first ride this year. When I was leaving the driveway, which goes uphill just a little, my right rear brake locked up and then released on its own. Does anyone have any reasons that this would be happening or any positive suggestions ? We have checked the brakes and it isn't getting hot, anymore than the rest of them, after driving around for awhile.

Could it be your parking brake that may not be releasing?

I've seen a couple do that and one was mine. It was E-brake lining problems both times. When I bought my 29 Tudor it had one E-brake lining and band missing, and the other side had the lining held on by one rivet.

Jamie86 , This would be a good time to check the E brake carrier . There are at least three different carriers . 1 non reinforced 2 reinforced and, 3 reinforced with ears to keep band on carrier . If band slips off it wull lock up brakes . Bubby Sharp in KY
