Default Dash Light

How do you run the pigtail to the amp for power.

Can not see way through the dash.

A picture would be helpful.

When I took many of the first photos of parts from my '30 pickup, I had marked one as to my thinking that it had been bent by someone. It was funny to see the area and I had thought it was done by someone who had dropped it or such. Nice to see I was incorrect and find it was not a flub by someone.

My truck didn't have the original light switch in it when I purchased it, so I had no idea as to what the bent area was actually for.

Thanks for the info.

When you do get your dash light working be careful when turning it off. It does get HOT. First time I reached under there I think I left my fingerprint permanently on the bulb/cover. I have since replaced the bulb with a LED.

Where did you purchase the LED, and do you have the part number?.

I have wanted to change mine to a LED.

When I was at a truck stop recently, they had several led bulbs which looked as if they may fit this switch. I didn't have the slight switch with me to be sure though and the leds were sealed inside packages anyway. The right-angled led light is no longer stocked at superbrghteleds.com and the one they show online does not look as if it would work, to me. You may contact them to see if they have any which didn't sell or know of a lead on such.

I plan to also add in a string of eL-wire under my dash rail. It should provide enough light to assist with this switch and it is really cheap with a controller. It flashes, has a steady light or a strobe. Mine was the brite neon white that I ordered from another vendor and it came with the controller.

Make sure the bulbs are 6 volt positive ground.

I bought some from an ebay dealer who listed them as fitting my 6 volt positive ground Studebaker, but it was a lie. They are for negative ground ONLY.

I got it at Super Brite LEDs https://www.superbrightleds.com I think it was part #67-W15. It's for a 12v system. I just checked, they don't carry any 6v LEDs this size.

Just an update. I ran a string of EL lights at the dash and it was a bright white lite. Unfortunately, it does not light the instrument panel enough to see the gauges well in the dark. It makes for an interesting light show, but does not work well for the purpose I had intended. The wiring was held in place with some Velcro strips, so it is easy to remove. Best lain plans of mice and men do not always work out. :-(

I am trying to locate a video of an led setup that someone had posted. The parts were from Radio Shack but I can't see to find the thread/video. I have the stock light for my pickup, but I wanted something brighter and at a different location. Like say, the EL wire was neat looking when lit up for effects , but simply too little focused light to use for the purpose I wanted it for.

I ordered both dash and tail lights for my 12 volt Tudor but after I installed them they wouldn't light up due to the positive ground. They both work fine when testing them on a negative ground test. How did you solve that problem?

You must have LED lights. There are some LED light made to work with either polarity, otherwise since you already went to 12 volts, why not go with negative ground also.
