Default 1929 Sport Coupe Hood Adjustment

Just put in a new water pump so the rad came out. After re-installation the hood rides the rad cowl on both sides. The firewall to rad arms are adjusted out to the max. The upper hose is not holding the top in.

What happened?

John, could you post some pictures? It probably has to do with the pads at the frame, but pictures would help define it.

Is the car on jack stands under the frame, which "might" affect the hood alignment????????
Are you SURE the radiator rod nuts are in the proper position/location?

one practice I always do when removing radiator/hood rods, etcc.. is to only loosen the front nut. not the back at the radiator end. otherwise you do change your adjustment. even if you remove the brace rods make sure you keep left on left side and right on right side so there's no mixup. If you have a 2 blade fan you should NOT have had to remove the radiator anyway. If you are installing a new water pump and removing a 4-blade fan unless you want to keep the old pump and have an aversion to this it is much less evasive and more efficient timewise ( especially if folks are paying for time) that I just toast the pump by using a sawsall on it in the middle. If I'm replacing it anyway because of issues it's not that big a deal. you can still salvage the fan.

Just one option. Sorry you're having hood alignment issues. as 700 said post some photos of each side both cowl and radiator left and right so we can see what's going on. Patience and methodology is key to resolving alignment issues.
