Re: '34 Truck comes to live with it's brother.
I was told the truck was CW Moss's truck. The truck is mostly stock except the unmentionable engine which has the numbers 327 in its name.
And the best part is it also has 5.14 gears like the '33 pulling it. Unfortunately, this '34 doesn't have the vacuum brake booster like the '33 does. |

Re: '34 Truck comes to live with it's brother.
Where did you find load limits for the BB?
I figure I was about 6,000 for the truck and just shy of 10K for the trailer and load. |

Re: '34 Truck comes to live with it's brother.
It's possible that I may have upset a few Prius, Telsa, Porsch etc drivers on the way back over the mountain but I pulled over whenever possible. I wasn't going to die just to keep the speed up. I went down the mountain in second gear.
Also not popular is the result of the ancient valve stem seals under high vacuum going down the mountain. I need to replace them soon! |

Re: '34 Truck comes to live with it's brother.
Very cool. Trucks seem to come in pairs!
Looks like the '34 has the full-floating rear axle. Congratulations on your hauling adventure, it looks awesome.

BIG selling point in '34 -that better axle. Brought a lot of customers into the dealers and helped with PU sales also. Newc

I like that full floater too but I've been super impressed with the the size of the roller bearings on the '33 semi floater - it's not wimpy.

Re: '34 Truck comes to live with it's brother.
I think the full floating rear axle was put into production in around February 1934, so early 1934 BB trucks had to 3/4 floating and later trucks had the full floating.

Re: '34 Truck comes to live with it's brother.
My dad (Captain John D. Baker) passed away exactly 1 year ago today. He was born in 1933 and that's why he like this 33BB.
So, taking these two to the truck show was a good way to honor him and the fun with old trucks that he introduced me to. |

That is so good, towing a BB with a BB! The old 1 1/2 ton flathead trucks still make the grade.

Re: '34 Truck comes to live with it's brother.
GREAT photos of TRUCKS!!! MY 1934 pickup is "out" all the time. Had a 1937 1 1/2 ton dump and I donated it to the Early Ford V8 Museum in Auburn, IN. It is in a "nice" home for all to see.

That is a fine pair of trucks for sure. Could you share some information about the brake booster? I have been toying with the idea and would like to see how yours is set up. Thanks.

What type of speed were you able to maintain on the uphill parts of the grade?
