Smile vinyl top

I have a 1935 ford coupe with a vinyl top. when you put the vinyl over the opening on top do you cut the vinyl at the edge of the trough or do you tuck it under the lip and then put the rubber seal down in the channel

I just did my 34 coupe top. I cut the vinyl to the edge all the way around, then secured the tack strip over the vinyl. I have step by step photos if you send me your email in a PM.
