Default Open Pickup Top Variances

Have noticed at least two styles of tops on open pickups similar to mine. The first has an ‘apron/skirt’ (I don’t know the correct term) along the back side of the rear bow (photo on right); the second does not (photo on left). Anyone have any insight as to originality, change dates for this? Window size/placement seems a bit different in these vehicles as well (or may be optical illusion due to skirt).
