Dupont 99A single stage acrylic enamel over a black epoxy primer...I believe DX79. Sheen is achieved with flatting agent
Through experimentation, I found that the following mixtures of paint to flatting agent gives the required sheen for fine point work:

Gloss-Right out of the can with a 1:5 oz addition of hardner
Semi Gloss - 1:5 flatting agent to paint
Satin - 3:4 flatting agent to paint.
I also did a 1:4 flatting agent to get an eggshell which is not Satin, but not as much gloss as semigloss for the axles.

By the way, where is Marco?

Thank you for sharing that info. It is so hard to restore a car when all you have is a little paint chip to compare to. I wish there was a list of all the approved paint codes.

Ed, even then there would likely be variances just because manufacturers use different types of pigments to achieve a color.

With regard to the frame finish, choose a level of Black that suits the owner's eye. Any level of satin works, ...and what Judges are looking for is the level of restoration. It is easy to under-restore or over-restore a frame' finish.

From my inquiries I have found that supposedly some high point have Rustoleum semi gloss brushed on paint. The exact color and gloss that is correct is somewhat dependent on the eyes doing the judging that day.

I used SPI black epoxy primer on my frame. Normally epoxy is a poor choice for a top coat as it does not have any UV protection, but the frame does not see much.

Rustoleum has been popular with a lot of model A guys for many years. Mine aren't show cars but I now use the semi gloss or satin black on the running gear . Use to most seemed to prefer high gloss black with the parts filled and sanded to show no pits and have a mirror type finish, this is now consider over restored but looked good . High gloss is seldom seen now days on the model A running gear..
