Default Installing the Hub Caps on 1928 and 1929 Model A's

Is there any Simple Tricks to installing the Hub Caps???
I bought 5 of the Stainless Steel ones and would like to install them on tight.
With the wheel removed I bent 6 of the Tabs using a screwdriver and rubber hammer. The cap won't fall off but it is still a little lose.

I add a bit of clear silicone calk, just 3-4 good dabs of it. I also like to index the Ford Script with the valve stem on top. Bob

I use the rubber o rings from mikes or snyders. I have no problems.

Wonder how they did it in '29 before they had silicone or rubber O rings...

I bent 6 of the tabs over to hold the Hub Caps in place and was thinking of using a few dabs of Silicone on the inside to keep them tight.

"Someone" makes a press tool that forms the tabs into a different configuration, that allows the cap to "POP" on & off.

I bent over four tabs and used a little silicone. They are tight and have not fallen off or loosened up in forty years.

I haven't seen one of these for the 28-29 hubcaps, only the 30-31.

I get 4 tabs as tight as I can and then wipe silicone "instant gasket" round the joint between cap and wheel. It's invisible and stays rattle-free indefinitely.

I have never seen one for the 28-29 hubcaps either.

Mike's A-Ford-Able has the one for 30-31. Expensive but works fantastic!! No silicone or rubber bands needed...

They must have changed the 28-29 hubcaps since the last set that I bought. The 28-29 hubcaps used on 21 inch wheels snapped on tightly. I know that the repro 30-31 hubcaps used on 19 inch wheels haven't been snap on type at least since the 70s . There is an expensive tool for converting the 30-31 hubcaps for snap on use., I have no problem bending the tabs on the repro 30-31 hubcaps with pliers so that they will snap on and off. I'm yet to see a 28-29 hubcap that doesn't snap on. I haven't bought any new 21 inch style hubcaps in a while and still have a couple of sets on the shelf that snap on.
