Re: Pop Out ignition
Don't know if he's still doing it, but Dick Crabtree in S.D.; 1- (605) 487-7229 used to be the go-to guy.

Re: Pop Out ignition
Mr. Crabtree restored a popout switch and cable for me earlier this year. Top notch work! It looks brand-new and functions beautifully. Quick turnaround time, too, if you are in a time crunch to get the switch back. (In the middle of winter, how much of a time crunch could there be??? )

'Sorry for my myopic view of driving conditions in the winter. We are presently dealing with record snowfall here in southeastern Iowa since Wednesday night, which is affecting my perception of the rest of the USA. Plus, more snow is projected for tomorrow and Monday. Popout switch usage hereabouts will drop drastically in proportion to the number of inches we get. Enjoy your popout switches and sunshine out on the Left Coast. We have forgotten what the sun looks like around here. Marshall P.S. Iowa weather sucks scissors!!!! |

Re: Pop Out ignition
Mr. Crabtree offered to sell me one outright. I told him to send it to me. It is beautiful. I haven't installed it yet. The price seemed fair to me.
Go for it.

Besides condition and functionality, the price of a good popout switch and cable would probably be affected by which year they fit. Early 1928 "banana" cables must be more valuable than the later more common ones. Look in the "Judging Standards". There are different cable tips and lengths shown. Be careful which switch and cable you buy for YOUR car. The armored cable might be either too long or too short. Check the "JS" for the correct length to match your Model A's year (and maybe month?). Re: Pop Out ignition
Dick Crabtree does excellent work. He has restored 6 cables for me over the years. Every one of them works flawlessly.
