Default Gen. belt too short

This is my first go around with a flattie so bear with me. Bought a new gen. belt from Macs for my 42 flathead engine and its too short. Measures 53 inches and have to pry it on the pump pulley with the gen. at lowest position. Gen. is now resting on my two carb. Edmunds intake and I can't budge it . Macs doesn't list another 5/8 wide belt that is longer. Any suggestions? Thanks

Just take it to your local auto parts store and have them match it to a longer one
