Default 28 Tudor Door Latch

Does anyone know the purpose of this bolt hole and what type of nut goes on it? It appears to pass thru the door post latch cover.

Thanks, Bill

That takes a flat head machine screw that goes through the wood inside the door post.

Thanks for the response. That's kind of what I thought. It just seems strange that Ford would have terminated the machine screw with a plain nut and not a clinch nut or something else.
