Default bittner ignition

a friend acquired a model T with a "bittner ignition" and is wondering if he should replace it with original coils. Any advice or suggestions?

As long as it is working properly, I would keep it. Parts and technical support are no longer available so plan accordingly.

I've read on other model T forums that the True Fire system is no longer supported. If it still functions then it can be used as is but once a component dies then it's on to a system that is still being supported. A lot depends on if the flywheel magneto is still functional as to whether the OEM style timer and trembler coils will function properly if reinstalled. They can function on battery alone but it's nice to have the magneto function as well.

working great but off it came? I think it's a psychological thing. I have it now and will sell cheap if any interest--------------------------$75.00
