window regulator ???
I have a 31 four door slant window (windshield opens up) Murray sedan. This is what the Model A fordor body style identification illustrations on pg 2 in Macs Autoparts book shows it to be. The rear passenger side (rs) window got where it would not roll up, you could get the window up if you pull it up, seems like it is skipping or the gear teeth or worn. I took it out window regulator (3 screws hold it on). Turn the regulator normal and it works. I put it in a vise and put a little downward pressure on it like it was having to lift a window and it will start skipping when it gets about half way up so I assume the window regulator gear is worn out. There are no rivets holding the gear in looks like steel (3) brackets that are bent over holding the window regulator gear in. Looks like it is the original part. No numbers or writing stamped on it. I can not find any 3 hole regulators for a 4 door sedan. The three hole I find or for 28-31 are for coupes, tudors, trucks. The only window regulators I find for 28-31 fordors are 4 screw hole type. I looked at the door and it is only made for 3 screw hole type. I am afraid if I bend the ends up one are all will break off. So where can I find a 3 hole regulator for a 4dr sedan. Sorry I type so much just trying to explain it. Thanks.

Re: window regulator ???
Try Bert's in Denver 1-800-321-1931
It wouldn't hurt to try to take it apart and weld up the worn teeth. |

Re: window regulator ???
A member of our region has a slantwindow TS. It has repro Coupe, Tudor, Truck regulators in the rear doors. Whoever installed them shortened the arm and reduced the wheel diameter inorder to work. There is some resistance in the arm design from original but they do work. Better than none. He's looking for servicable originals.

Re: window regulator ???
Thanks for the info fellows. I guess I will try and see if I can get it apart. I will call some of these places that sell Model A parts and see what they say about the regulators. Don't know why the parts books don't list them.

Re: window regulator ???
My S/W car had a broken quarter window regulator. A prevous owner had bought one of those made-in-Argentina repro gears, but gave up when he realized that it was not a drop-in replacement. I had to finish the job with a bit of welding and lathe work. There are a couple of photos on this page:
http://dougbraun.com/model_a_gallery...=10&g2_page=31 I also did a lot of rebuilding on the door latches. Boy, what a pain! Doug
