Default E28 Fuel Line (Sed Bowl to Carb)

My original (seamed) fuel line seems to have a very slow leak at the seam about ½” outside the compression fitting (verified off the vehicle by bubbles under water with gentle air). I am concerned about heating to reset the solder as this might just make matters worse along the rest of the seam. Thought about using a hair dryer at that area abut don’t think it will be warm enough to reset the solder. Open to suggestions …

I would try and place wet rags around just before & after leak area & go ahead and solder it.. I don't think it will open it up any.. Fred..

Charles
be careful I had the same thing happen on my Victoria 20 or so years ago, I fix it and about three months later I backed the car out of my garage and was letting it warm up for no more then 5 minutes when I came out there was a pool of gas under the car. the big problem is getting clean enough to solder it. I still have the gas line and I have tried to solder a couple times, but it fails the pressure test.

If the line has rust I would look for a better line, but If no rust, then I'd wire wheel the area clean and use a bit of flux and 60/40 rosin core solder along with a good soldering gun or iron. It's not hard to make a good solder job if you have quality solder. The year I taught auto mechanics at the Vo-Tech the students didn't do such a good soldering job, so I tried and found out the solder from China was junk. Some good USA solder corrected the problem.

This is the same thing that was mentioned about the lead production being shut down in this country, so now we have to buy lead from China and the battery life has dropped dramatically.
