Default Wards 6 Volt Generator?

Does anyone know the year or use for this generator? I bought it at the swap meet this past Sunday thinking it might be used as a portable generator to recharge Model A and T batteries. After lifting it into and out of the back seat of my Phaeton I think it's much too heavy to really be considered portable. It also has 2 studs shown on the last picture that must have been used to mount something, and it has a flat belt and V belt pulley.

The seller said his dad bought it new, but didn't have the owner's manual. It has exposed valve springs, and a very small piston and carb, so it looks like it would be very economical to run. When I connected it to my Model A battery, then pushed the black button under the carrying handle it fired right up and charged at 15 amps. The toggle switch on the top right side allows the engine to run with or without putting out a charge. It's a Montgomery Wards Model 64 CM 3500B. Would like to hear from anyone that knows what this was used for or any other information about it. Thanks
