I use photoshop on a Mac Pro and a 4K 55" samsung as my monitor. (I know. My wife already teases me about my ridiculously large monitor!) With Photoshop I can not only adjust photos, but create images that never existed. In the image below the 1929 Ford Trimotor was shot at Danbury Airport in August. I changed the scene to winter, added my old 1928 Huckster, the presents, and a 1929 Waco flying by to create this holiday scene.

I have been using Photoshop CS5 on my Mac Pro which I bought under their education discount while I was still teaching. If I feel the need to upgrade now that I am retired, I would probably just sign up for Adobe's subscription program which would always allow me to use the latest version.

Gary,

If the requirement is you want to add a car to an existing background I think the only one that will do it using a PC is Adobe photoshop but I will admit I am not familiar with all that is out there. If you had a Mac I think (?) "Aperature" would do what you want. If anyone knows anything else that will accomplish that task using a PC would they please post it. Now that you have boiled your question down to you have a PC and want software to add something to an existing background you might try posting on a "Photo Forum" (such as http://www.photoforum.com or anywhere else you find using a google search). Note that when you take a course at a junior college you might be able to buy the software in the student store at a discount. Be sure to let us know how it comes out.

Photoshop CS6. It's a professional program and not learned overnight but when you do get going at it, easier than the want-a-be's.

The cases on the running board of the roadster in the top picture contain a Kodak 2D 8X10 film camera. The panorama was done hand held with Nikon D-200 and stitched together in PS. It can print really large and holds together nicely. The B/W pics of the '31 coupe on the continental divide were done with a smaller 4X5" film camera. The trunk that locks up on the coupe is really nice for the big wooden cameras.

Gary,

I am confused. You say there is just too many choices? If you want to add a car on top of an existing background I think Adobe Photoshop is the only one that will do it. If I am wrong I hope someone will correct me. If your criteria has changed please let us know what the current criteria is.

Nice work! Are there any links that would allow us to see the full size images?

BTW are there any great functions that would justify upgrading from CS5 to CS6?

I owe you an apology, I was wrong. It turns out there are choices out there which nobody posted. I posted the question on a photo forum and here is the response, "Most editing software will allow you to do this, 'though some make it easier than others. All it requires is a program that can create layers and masks. Adobe Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, Corel PaintShop Pro, and Gimp are just a few. There are also stand-alone programs that do just this, such as Topaz Remask." Good luck and post your results.

When I bought my first digital camera, it came with Photoshop, and I sure liked it, until my brother stole it. Now I need to buy another one so I can put it on my ASUS laptop.
