Default License plate restoration

Finally found a '31 Oklahoma license plate.
Anyone have a recommendation for a restorer?
Looking for quality...and of course price.
Seems to be lots of restorers online, with prices ranging from $50 - $150.
Some of their results look very amateurish, while others look top rated.
Would like to hear for barner's that have have theirs done, real World results.

Top quality and low price don't usually go together. You have to expect to pay for professional quality. I paid $100 for each plate for very good but not professional results. Wayne

And there's the rub...
I believe a plate should like as issued, from two feet away.
I've never done a plate, and as hard as it was to find this plate I don't want to take any chances.

I think all the Oklahoma plates from '29 - '31 went out to Californ-i-a...back in the dust bowl days.

Did a fantastic job for me, cost less than the paint would have been if I had done it myself.

Hang on, be right back....I had found a 1930 plate and was looking for you. I'll get back with you on the restoration of the 31 plate.

Here's the guy I sent my Chicago Tax disc to and it came back a perfect match for my 31 Illinois plates:

Beutiful plate. I would Google on how to restore it yourself. If you are unsatisfied with your work, you should be able to locate another one for less then if you had your current one restored by a professional. (my opinion, always worth little, given often)

Here's mine - just put it on last week. Bought it with a good bit of rust but no dents or holes for $50. I de-rusted it and cleaned it up, then had it painted by a sign painter that does license plates in this area (Canton, OH) - cost another $80. Sounded reasonable to me and since it's good with no renewals in Ohio until the year 2050, I'm happy with it.

Burner31: I have had six or seven restored and many friends have as well: never a complaint and this gentleman is a perfectionist:

SONNY LEWIS
14B RHEA MILLS CIRCLE
PROSPER, TEXAS. 75078
469-774-2240

Cost is $65; I sent him one that was so badly rusted you could barely read it - he returned and it looks like a porcelain plate: absolute show quality.

Go to my profile and see what I did. It was my first one and I think by the time I get around to the next one, I'll have perfected the technique somewhat.

Gerald Thiele in Vernon TX, taught many Dallas Club members, including Sonny Lewis. The 1929 TX plates in my avatar where by Thiele.

These guys don't make much money at $80 a plate. Strip paint, de rust, welding and patching, remove dents, prime, sand, urethane base coat, one shot enamel letters rolled on, urethane clear coat, return mail. They can paint them cheaper than you can gather what is needed.

Pm me for Thiele's ph#
