Default 33/34PU/Victoria New gas tanks???

Well found out that my new tank is Modern in every way. Nice product, but Modern even the fill neck fitting. It uses a hose connector between the tank and the fill neck. Can't have that here. So I cut off the original threaded fitting and intend to braze it to the modern fill neck, which bolts to the tank now. Photos of an hours work- not yet brazed. You all can do this. Seems I can only upload 4 photos at a time? Newc

Photos now; Important- Keep the threads and lead seal ring base untouched, cause you are going to screw in the correct fill neck and nut. Do not throw away your old TANK, you'll need these parts of the fill neck. I need to check its length before brazing tho. Newc

Brazing worked real well. Threads are perfect. Test gas fill neck screwed in just fine. So now light clean up and bolt modified fill neck to modern tank. It'll look original from the outside of the PU bed. Save your old tanks for these parts. Easy fix. Newc

All done! A good days work inside with bad weather going on outside. You to can do this. Now the PU will look almost original. I hope the lead rings are still available. Newc

I see that you have capitalized the Modern tank. Is that a brand name? The tank that Drake sells comes with the proper threaded end for the filler neck to screw into. The seals are available at multiple places.

It's a 'TANKS' So I should have bought a Drake? Darn, In Oregon too, We get a brake [10%] for driving there.
Yep! the Drake tank is much more correct, while the 'Tanks' hold 18 gal and is all modern for in-tank pumps ect. Darn. Newc

Yep, the Drake tank is more correct in the stamping elsewhere on the tank, too. Not really a big deal if you aren't concerned about visible authenticity, though.
