Default Can anyone id.this rear end?

Fellas,I bought a model A doodlebug that has some kind of planetary gear drive rear end. I'm hoping someone has an idea what it's out of originally so I can decide if it's gonna be shipped to China or not. Thanks in advance for any clues.

Don't ship it to China......I'm sure it would at least make a great lawn ornament. Must of come out of a slow truck from the early twenties or late teens. It is quite an engineering curiosity!

Looks like someone put a larger ring gear in the housing, and it would not fit.
so they cut the back away and welded a hump onto a homemade cover.
A solution to a problem....you got to love it!

Hope this insanely long link works: http://books.google.com/books?id=iP4...xle%22&f=false

Anyway...I searched the Torbensen axle, found this on Google Books as one result, and ended up at about page 915...it is from IHC and is neatly illustrated there!
