Default Shock mount

The modern shock kit that I have requires that the front axel be drilled for the bottom mount. There must be an easier way, any suggestions?

I have modern tube shocks all around no drilling required. I got them from Schwalms. Their telephone number is 717-687-6976.

I, too bought the modern shocks which require 1 hole on each side through the front axle. I drilled the holes. It's easy to do - and I figured they'd be easy to fill if I ever needed to.

These bolt on under the axle, using your spring perch bolts. Any street rod supplier will help you out. Speedway Motors is possibly the most cost efficient.

I bought mine from CMR Sales Inc. No drilling, east install. They work great and he is a real nice guy to deal with. He has an ad in the rear of The Restorer magazine. His number is 843-830-9637.

I purchased the ones where drilling is required. An easy task for sure and they haven't given me any problems whatsoever - its been over 10 years.

Easier?

Buy Bill Stipe shocks. They fit and work as original no drilling.

I think Ken has some on his web site:
www.kendavismodela.com

If you don't find them there, I think I have some at home I can send you.

These are pics of my front shocks.

I can't figure how to orient the pictures correctly. The left side of each pic should be the top of the pic.

Thanks Ryan. All the websites are small installed pics or just the kit lying there.

Ryan, am I see that right? It looks like the left side clamps to the axle, but the right one clamps to the wishbone. I've never seen a setup like that before. I'm certainly no expert, but I would assume that you want the dampening force in the same place on both sides.

It looks like both front clamp to the axle, but the rear clamps to the wishbone.

Of course! That makes more sense. I should have known from the fact that there were two brake rods.

Thanks for setting me straight.

The first post shows 4 pics of the same shock just at different angles on the front right side of the car and the second post shows 2 pics of the rear right side of the car.
Does anyone know how to post pics rotated to a portrait view? The pics view normally on my computer, however, they rotate to landscape view when I post them on this site.

I think it might have been easier on my end. I saved them on my computer, opened them up in picture viewer, turned them right side up, re saved and posted.
