Default brakes

I'm looking for a pair of hydraulic brakes for the rear end of my Model A. What have you used on your A? Are there bolt on backing plates? Will 40 Fordbacking plates work?

You will probably have better luck posting this over on the HAMB.

Do you have juice brakes on the front or are you running mechanical on the front and want to run juice brakes on the back only?

Snyders, and I assume the other vendors, have a kit for converting all the brakes to juice brakes. See https://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/p...7498&cat=41655

'39 thru '48 backers bolt right on, but also require 39-48 drums. While they do bolt right on, the drums often slightly rub the backers, so some machining or axle shims may be required. e-mail me at [email protected] and I'll send you the chapter of my book that deals with brakes.

What Jim says about the drums is true but remember that the bolt pattern on the '39 drum is 5 on 10 1/4. The bolt pattern on the '40-'48 drums is 5 on 5 1/2.
